Sometimes people take corruption to gain wealth or to get higher. ‘’Like a Bad Dream’’ by Henrich Boll concerns an upwardly mobile young German couple in the 1960s; we do not know the narrator’s name, but his wife is named Bertha. The narrator has bid on a large contract for the firm of a man named Zumpen, and on the evening before the contract is to be awarded, Bertha persuades the narrator to invite Zumpen and his wife to their house for dinner. The wife wants the husband to go to the Zumpens house and talk to Mr. Zumpen about the contract. The wife went with the husband to the Zumpens house. The wife and the husband when they got to the Zumpens house Mrs. Zumpen opened the door and said that her husband was not at home. Mrs. Zumpen was the only one at home. A small boy†¦ frail to the eye, but skilled in his combat, watching the wolf and how it looks at him thirsting for blood. If the boy wishes to return to his people he must utilize all the skills he has learned up into this point. To come back to his people of Sparta as a man is his only wish. He is scarcely dressed, probably cold and tired, but expressions of emotion elude his face. With spear in hand he stalks the wolf as his prey. The boy waits for his perfect moment and takes out his target, honing his fear from deep within and using it to his advantage. Spartans are taught at a young to hone this fear, throughout 300 this is showcased. 300 tells the story of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B. C. Persians under the rule of King Xerxes have already taken over some of Greece’s city-states, and now threaten Sparta and Athens. A messenger sent by Xerxes attempts to present King Leonidas of Sparta with two options: either have to sacrifice the well-being of Sparta or have it burn to the ground. With submission not being an option, Leonidas forms an army of 300 Spartan warriors to block the narrow passage of Thermopylae where Xerxes intends to reach Hellas. The 300 are accompanied by about 1,000 Thespians and Akkadians who protect the flanks of the passage, and combined, the forces manage to slay tens of thousands of Persians and prevent their entry into Hellas for several days. However, Ephiattes, a reject of the Spartan Army gets his revenge by showing Xerxes a secret goat passage up the flanks of the Hot Gates. This movie depicts the epic last stand of the finest Spartan soldiers who are aware of their fate, but motivated by honor and glory, see the battle as their duty to protect the rest of Greece for as long as possible. All Spartans ultimately knowing that their deaths were upon them, but leaving behind a tale of victory and greatness. Throughout the movie, moments stick out and really make an impact on viewers. Queen Gorgos, as a whole, is a very momentous character. She is a woman of ancient times who is not afraid to stand up for herself and really speak her mind. Her plot and story in the duration of the movie is one to really be followed. When the Persian messenger arrives and hears her speak he questions why she can she speak among men. With attitude she replies, â€Å"Because only Spartan women give birth to real men. † After that it is known she is a powerful women. Her husband, Leonidas leaves on bad terms with council and she must depend on Theron to sway council to send troops. He ends up taking advantage of her, and as he does this he whispers into her ear, â€Å"This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this. Im not your King. † At this point, it is thought Queen Gorgos’ fire has gone out. But you later find her stab and kill Theron in front of the council and as she did so she whispered in his ear, â€Å"This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this. I am not your Queen! † Showing how seriously tough she is. She is a truly inspirational woman who is willing to do whatever necessary to get what she wants and support her husband. The quotes found in this movie are quite deep and meaningful. So many can be professed as the best quote in the movie, but honestly the best and most inspiring through my eyes would have to be one of the last quotes in the movie. Helios said it as he was preparing to annihilate the Persians by leading 10,000 Spartans and 33,000 Greeks into the Battle of Platea, â€Å"Give thanks to Leonidas and the brave 300. TO VICTORY! This quote really sticks with the viewer in many ways. The first being, that it is said by Helios, who was sent back to Sparta by Leonidas to tell the story of the 300 who gave their lives for independence. Second, It was said before the Greeks went into the Battle of Platea, which they won, ultimately defeating the Persians and making Greece a more untied empire. I enjoyed this movie greatly due to the fact of the historical undertone and the powerful love between King Leonidas and Queen Gorgos, where you see them defend each other and show their passion for one and other. This movie is a very well directed and holistically amazing.

Ventricular Tachycardia Meg Carroll June 28, 2000 Ventricular Tachycardia An dysrhythmia of the heart is an irregular heartbeat rhythm. Ventricular tachycardia is an dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast. The heart rate is measured with an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This is a machine that measures the electrical impulses from the patient's heart. This is displayed on a monitor or ECG graph paper. The boxes on the graph paper measure time. Five small boxes are equal to one large box. The large box represents two-tenths of a second. The atrial contraction is represented by the P wave. This is an upward, or positive wave of the line on the graph. The ventricular contraction is displayed by the QRS complex. The QRS complex is composed of three waves, the Q, R, and S waves. The Q wave is the first downward, or negative movement on the graph. The R wave is the positive movement following the Q wave. It rises above the starting point of the Q wave. The S wave is a negative movement following the R wave. The S wave returns the line to the original baseline. The T wave, the repolarization of the ventricle, is a positive wave of the line that ends one beat of the heart. The atrial repolarization is not represented on the graph. It is absorbed by the QRS complex, which is a stronger impulse. In a normal heart beat, there is one P wave for every QRS complex and T wave. The QRS complex is no larger than three small boxes on the graph paper. Every beat comes at the same interval as the other beats. During ventricular tachycardia, the P wave is not represented. The QRS complex is wide. The T wave is not present on the graph. The intervals between beats can be up to five times shorter than a normal rhythm. A normal heart beats anywhere from sixty to one hundred times per minute. The sinoatrial node or SA node, is an area of specialized tissue in the right atrium at the juncture of the superior vena cavae. The SA node is the primary pacemaker of the heart. It starts the heartbeat by spontaneously contracting, causing the rest of the heart to contract in a wave. The wave spreads through the atria before reaching the atrioventricular node, or AV node, located just above the right ventricle. The AV node focuses the wave into the ventricles, contracting the ventricles. Should the SA node fail, the AV node can take over as the primary pacemaker at a rate of forty to sixty beats per minute. Should both the SA node and the AV node fail, there is a tertiary pacemaker, the perkinje fibers. Perkinje fibers are located near the bottom of the ventricles and can stimulate contraction at a rate of twenty to forty beats per minute. If the perkinje fibers or the AV node becomes irritated, they can begin contraction of the ventricles at speeds well above normal. Other causes of ventricular tachycardia include heart disease and medications. When the ventricles are contracting at a rate greater than one hundred beats per minute, the heart becomes inefficient. Blood cannot properly fill the ventricular chambers before it is forced out. This decreases the amount of oxygenated blood circulating through the body. The lack of oxygen in the body causes the heart to attempt to pump more blood, forcing the ventricles to work even harder. Should the ventricular rate rise above one hundred fifty beats per minute, patients usually require cardioversion. Cardioversion is electric shock treatment. It acts like a reset button, stopping all action so that the heart can begin normal beating again. Cardioversion, or defibrillation, should be done up to three times in increasing strength, no less than two hundred joules and no more than three hundred sixty joules. If the patient is still in ventricular tachycardia, defibrillation is used in conjunction with certain medications. The first medication given to a patient in ventricular tachycardia is epinephrine. One milligram is administered rapidly, every three to five minutes. Epinephrine improves blood flow through the body and holds the heart in a contractile state until it the entire heart can relax. During the planning stage, the type of buildings to be situated in specific areas are pre-determined coupled with their connectivity to public transport. For instance, planners draft up the locations of schools, restaurants, parks and enter into a legal agreement with the companies that provide public transpor t, like bus companies, which will serve the members of that town. This ensures connectivity between work and home. However, in the U.S, many residential areas have not been fitted with such a set- up, evidenced by the lack of schools, restaurants and other important establishments necessary for their day to day routines. Urban planning in the U.S does not adopt a comprehensive approach, meaning that at it is harder to access some social services like recreation parks due to distance.According to Evans, planning in Europe is so structured such that it is very hard for a person to be permitted by the city to establish a home in an area that the city has not designed as a residential area. However in the U.S, building a residential home in a secluded area is a common feature, where a person resides in a reclusive area with no neighbors and no access to public transport (Evans, 2014).Levy argues that, like most European towns, German towns have no grid patterns and the general layout of many urban centers have an organic framework that entails having narrow roads that are reminiscent of 18th Century culture. Every time I write, I discover something more about myself. I dont always see it immediately; but I begin to notice a pattern developing. Recently, I wrote a feature article and realized that I overuse the word that. Grammatically, it was not wrong; it was just too much. It visually detracted from the overall appearance of the piece. Maybe no one else would have noticed, but it bothered me. Every that was like an unsightly wad of gum stuck under a desk. I couldnt wait to pry them out. The next thing I became aware of was a tendency to edit my work as I write. This should be a separate process, and I really have to fight against doing it. Its almost like a default mode that subconsciously takes over as I write. As you can see, we all struggle with the writing process. It reveals more than we realize. To strengthen the weak spots, here are some things that may be of help to you. Avoid editing as you write-it slows down the writing process Read your piece out loud-you will hear your mistakes before you will see them Have someone read it back to you you will better determine if you clearly communicated your thought Vary your sentence structure-avoid starting every sentence with a subject, turn some sentences into questions, use introductory clauses Simplify-delete unnecessary words and phrases, avoid repetition Ive always told my students that writing is like an art form. It is the true you being unveiled. It cannot be completed in one sitting. You build it, tear it down, add more, take away, and rebuild. One day you may like it, the next you may not. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Take your time, be thorough, have someone help you, and dont be afraid to throw your words away. Those that matter will stand. Despite his death in 2011, Steve Jobs creativity, inventions and entrepreneur nature made Apple company a powerhouse in the computer and technologies sector. According to Young and Simon, Jobs has a way to use technology and creativity to show the greatness of his abilities as evident from his improvements at Apple. The success of Steve Jobs and the Apple Company may be attributed to Jobs genius thinking and creative mind.
